An excellent protein alternative for toddlers (and adults) who dislike animal protein. For a bit of kick, sprinkle with ground, toasted Sichuan peppercorn and/or serve with sriracha sauce.
Ingredients
- 250 g hard tofu cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/8 tsp five spice powder
- 1 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp light soy sauce
- Ground white pepper
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Vegetable oil
Recipe Preparation
Mix all marinade ingredients in small bowl and mix well. Pour mixture over tofu and stir to coat. Let tofu sit and marinate for 10 to 15 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil in frying pan on medium-high heat. Drain tofu and fry on all surfaces until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature. Best eaten when freshly cooked.
